Summary:

In the Sahara Desert, Legionnaire Porky Pig must defend the fort from Ali Baba, “the mad dog of the desert” while the other legionnaires are at a convention in Boston.

That’s Not All, Folks:

George Raft is caricatured as a “nasty spy” who informs Porky of Ali Baba’s planned attack.

Porky names the little camel he’s using “Baby Dumpling” and his mother as “Blondie”.

The cartoon is in the public domain.

This is the second time Porky is in the Foreign Legion. The first was in “Little Beau Porky”.

What I Like About This One:

The music over the opening titles as well as the Middle Eastern music at the start of the cartoon.

The Sahara Desert being described as “so hot even the fan dancers use electric fans”.

Porky’s rendition of “The Girlfriend of the Whirling Dervish”.

The George Raft caricature (named “Tattletale Gray”) flipping a coin with his foot.

Upon learning of Ali Baba’s plans to attack the fort, Porky runs off before coming back to thank Raft for informing him: “Thanks, you nasty spy!”

“And I thought Ali Baba and his Dirty Sleeves were all washed up!”

Porky renting Baby Dumpling from a camel lot (rather than car lot).

Ali Baba’s binoculars being a pair of beer bottles.

Ali Baba literally barking after the subtitle “The Mad Dog of the Desert” appears as well as his fingers briefly morphing into a whistle when he whistles to his troops (he even whistles like a whistle).

Porky’s minor reaction to seeing Ali Baba’s men: he acts like he’s about to exclaim something but lets out a calm “Goodness gracious”.

Baby Dumpling lifting up his “skirt” and daintily walking through a mud puddle (no idea how that’s in the middle of the desert) before running again.

One of the thugs attempting to use another as a battering ram while the thug who’s used as a battering ram is fed headache pills.

Another thug boosting up another thug to shoot into the fort via a test your strength game.

Baby Dumpling summoning “Blondie” (his mother) to help by blowing a bugle which yells, “HELP!”

Blondie galloping back to fill up with “gas”.

Blondie saving Porky and Baby Dumpling from Ali Baba by butting him out of the fort.

While Ali Baba and his thugs are on the other side, they attempt to sneak in the back way at the same time a little squirt with a bomb attached to his head attempts to charge at the door. Porky opens the front while the camels open the back as the midget unknowingly charges at Ali Baba and all the other men on his own side.
