That’s Not All, Folks:
This was the first Merrie Melodie directed by Friz Freleng.
After this, the next eight Merrie Melodies were in black and white. Starting with “Those Beautiful Dames”, the Merrie Melodies from that point on would be in color (the Looney Tunes would be in black and white for several more years).
This is not to be confused with the Disney film of the same name.
What I Like About This One:
The opening gag with the clock’s pendulum hitting a spittoon.
One of the singers zipping a frog’s mouth shut.
Humpty Dumpty finding the sight of the girl kissing the soldier so hilarious that he falls off the wall and breaks… into a group of dancing toy ducks.
When the ducks roll like skaters, a gnome buzzes up soda crackers in a fan, so that they resemble snow.
The beast having some of his fur buzzed off by a toy plane.
