Buddy the Gee Man
Directed by Jack King
Release Date:
August 24, 1935
Main Character(s):
Buddy
Summary:
Federal agent Buddy is assigned to view the lives of the prisoners at “Sing Song” Prison.
That’s Not All, Folks:
This is the last Buddy cartoon. After this, Beans the Cat would briefly be the star of the Looney Tunes, before Porky Pig took over that role.
What I Like About This One:
Buddy discarding a “lucky” horseshoe, which destroys his large mirror.
The warden’s name being “Otto B. Kinder”, which doesn't match his personality.
Machine Gun Mike expecting a love letter, but gets a chain letter instead.
One of the prisoners accidentally hitting the warden on the head, when he is given a larger sledgehammer.
The dog, Gee Man (not Towser), writing notes with his tail.
Buddy turning the prison into a fun day camp, that men are trying to break into prison!
Overall, this cartoon ended Buddy’s career on a high note.
