Main Character(s):

Porky Pig, Petunia Pig

Summary:

Porky Pig and his cousins (Petunia, Patrick, Peter, Percy, and Portus) are informed by the gentle-sounding Lawyer Goodwill that their recently deceased Uncle Solomon has left them an inheritance. However, if anything bad happens to them, Goodwill will receive the money. Once Goodwill leaves, we find out that he is very greedy and evil. After turning into a monster with the help of “Jekyll and Hyde Juice”, Goodwill goes after the pigs, intending to kill them.

That’s Not All, Folks:

Petunia is shown as Porky’s cousin in this one.

Uncle Solomon is a caricature of Oliver Hardy.

According to Mark Kausler on the commentary for this cartoon on the Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume 4 DVD set, Volney White animated the scene of Goodwill going down to the cellar and listening out to make sure no one hears him.

A running gag involves Goodwill belittling the “guy in the third row”, thinking he’s too helpless to stop him. This proves to be his downfall.

What I Like About This One:

The cartoon is a very well done parody of horror films.

All of Porky’s cousins watching the clock ominously while Porky is the only one looking at the camera and smiling.

The P.S. in Uncle Solomon’s will: “Bury me not on the Lone Prairie!”

When Goodwill leaves, he says “However, nothing will happen.” He then opens the door back up to add, “I hope”.

On Goodwill’s first attempt at turning into a monster after drinking the “Jekyll and Hyde Juice”, he breathes heavily but nothing happens. He shrugs as if to say, “Oh well”.

After trying it again by frothing it up in a milkshake mixer, the transformation is a success. He immediately starts taunting the guy in the third row by calling him a “big softie”.

Every time Goodwill shuts off the lights, one of the cousins disappears one by one, but he doesn’t get Porky and Petunia.

It’s revealed that Goodwill has Patrick, Peter, Percy, and Portus in a wooden trap. He says that if the guy in third row comes up, he’ll fix him too and calls him a “big cream puff”.

When Porky and Petunia go searching for the others, Goodwill kidnaps Petunia and takes her place. When Porky realizes whose hand he’s holding, he makes a mad dash upstairs. Once he realizes who he’s talking to, he makes the same mad dash backwards down into the cellar where he finds the others in the trap.

When it looks like Goodwill will do away with all of them, a theater chair comes flying in out of nowhere and knocks Goodwill into the trap. “Who did that?”, all the pigs ask in unison. “ME!” answers an offscreen voice. Goodwill asks, “Who are you?” The voice replies, “I’m the guy in the third row, ya big sourpuss!”
