Release Date:

November 26, 1938

Main Character(s):

Daffy Duck, Porky Pig

Summary:

Daffy Duck, assistant to surgeon Dr. Quack, is thrown out for going crazy during an operation. Daffy decides to get a patient of his own and decides to operate on a perfectly healthy Porky Pig, who has the misfortune to pass by the hospital.

That’s Not All, Folks:

This is another sign that Clampett was growing tired of always using Porky; Porky doesn’t appear until the cartoon is almost over.

Daffy would become a crazy doctor again in Space Jam when Michael Jordan gets pulled into the Looney Tunes world.

The audio of the scene where Daffy’s body inflates after getting stuck in the artificial lung can be heard on “The Carl Stalling Project Volume 1”.

Daffy tossing around sharp instruments and going nuts (John Carey animates up to the point where Daffy says “Hello, pleased to meet ya!” while Ellis animates him going insane).

Daffy getting thrown into an artificial lung (animated by Carey) and when he manages to free himself, various body parts inflate and swell up like a balloon (animated by Robert Cannon).

Dr. Quack’s operation being revealed that he was stitching up a football! (animated by Carey). He laughs maniacally and imitates a one-man football game (animated by Ellis).

The expression on Daffy’s face when he follows Porky while holding a mallet behind his back. He knocks Porky out offscreen and takes him to a hospital room (animated by Cannon).
