Fish Tales
Directed by Jack King
Release Date:
May 23, 1936
Main Character(s):
Porky Pig
Summary:
Porky Pig goes fishing and has a nightmare that a fish catches him and takes him home to his family to eat for dinner.
That’s Not All, Folks:
Porky has only one line of dialogue in the cartoon: “Let me out of here!”
A picture of a fish on a plate is seen at one point with the caption “Uncle Norm”. This is a reference to either Norman Spencer or animator Norm McCabe.
This is probably one of the first instances of the “pepper makes one sneeze” joke.
What I Like About This One:
One of the worms (for bait) acting like Mae West before the other worm pulls him into the can.
When Porky’s boat goes out of control, he goes under a ship. But the boat ends up going back, and this time, he goes through the ship, and splits the table where the crew were having lunch in two.
Porky accidentally hooking his boat, causing it to flip.
Porky catching a mounted fish head.
The father fish’s theme.
Flames dancing around Porky after the father fish strips him of his clothes and puts him in the oven.
When Porky is chased by an eel, he accidentally swims into the mouth of a large fish who’s asleep. The fish wakes up when the eel emerges out of his mouth like a party blower.
