Summary:
Beans finds gold during the gold rush and Porky Pig (portrayed as an adult) is willing to have his daughter, Little Kitty, married to Beans if he retrieves his sack (presumably of gold) from a shady villain.
That’s Not All, Folks:
This was the first cartoon directed by Tex Avery, who would be responsible for starting the humor the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies are known for.
Bob Clampett and Chuck Jones, who would both eventually become major directors, are credited for the animation.
What I Like About This One:
Beans striking gold from a mountain slot machine (using a button on his outfit as a coin).
When Beans announces his discovery of gold, a dog takes his bathtub with him.
A barbershop quartet rushing back to finish the last line of “Sweet Adeline”.
Porky thinking he’s found three pieces of gold, but he actually keeps finding the same piece that he unknowingly keeps taking out of his pocket.
Beans finding a treasure chest that contains a useless book called “How to Find Gold”. It has the simple instruction, “Dig for It”.
Beans shooting the villain’s large hat down to a little hat.
Beans refueling his car with moonshine instead of gas.
The twist ending which reveals that what the villain stole was actually Porky’s lunch!
