What I Like About This One:
The city slicker speaking in spoonerisms.
At the start of the flashback, the horses all have parking spaces.
When a cop notices a horse standing in a no parking area, he asks him his name. The horse replies, “Seabiscuit! What’s yours?” (animated by Rod Scribner).
The gas station attendant being pulled into the Eureka bar (the bartender sees him as a literal “sucker”) and going against a customer in a crooked card game (animated by Gil Turner). At one point, when the customer lights his cigar, the cards continue shuffling themselves.
The attendant having trouble trying to claim a spot with other prospectors putting down signs that say, “I saw it first!”, “Finders keepers”, and “Keep off!” (the last one being produced by a shot arrow).
The attendant throwing his sign down in frustration (“Aw shucks!”) and unintentionally claiming a spot. To his misfortune, this spot is the edge of a cliff!
This ordeal lands the attendant in the hospital but he instantly recovers when the doctor informs him that gold has been found in Virginia City (animated by Turner).
Another prospector digging for gold and finding a goldfish.
Prospectors in a mine singing “My Sweetheart Needs Gold for Her Teeth” to the tune of “In the Shade of the Old Apple Tree”.
The way the attendant’s body reacts after taking a shot of “nugget nectar”.
After the flashback ends, the attendant claims to have given up prospecting but news of gold being found causes him to take the city slicker’s car and drive off into the distance and selling the station to the slicker.
