Summary:

A bumbling salesman comes to the home of a tribe of African cannibals. Although their white spinster queen wants to marry him, he somehow prefers to be a meal over being married to her.

That’s Not All, Folks:

This is the fifth cartoon in the Censored Eleven. It is also in the public domain, making it one of the more commonly seen Censored Eleven cartoons.

At one point, the queen visualizes the salesman as Clark Gable and Robert Taylor.

The cartoon’s title is mentioned by Daffy Duck in the Daffy and Porky cartoon, “The Ducksters” (1950). However, it’s unknown if Daffy was referring to this cartoon or a fictional picture with the same title.

The cartoon was originally titled “The Fulla Bluff Salesman”.

Clips from this cartoon appear in the 2000 movie, “Bamboozled”, which is a Spike Lee movie about black stereotypes.

There is one gag that would probably not be acceptable today: one of the cannibals using his oversized nose ring as a jumping rope.

What I Like About This One:

The opening jungle music.

The reuse of the merry go round gag from “Sweet Sioux”, with the Merry Go Round Broke Down playing.

One of the cannibals walking up a tree by attaching plungers to his feet.

The salesman having trouble getting into the cannibal village as elevator-like doors keep slamming in his face. Then, when he rings the doorbell, he gets punched in the face by a mechanical boxing glove.

The “Hold the Onions” joke being used for the second time (with the first time being in “Pigs is Pigs”).

The cannibals screwing around with the salesman’s merchandise, with the funniest being one of them accidentally vacuuming up his hut!
