Summary:
Porky Pig wants to learn to fly so he joins the Air Corps. He is assigned to clean a voice-controlled robot plane and ends up going on a wild ride in it, when its inventor, a monkey scientist, leaves the command microphone in front of a window where some kids are showing off the tricks a dog can do.
That’s Not All, Folks:
This is the first starring role for Porky Pig.
This is the first Warner cartoon to have animation by Virgil Ross, who would become one of the most prominent animators at the studio.
When Porky is able to get his stutter under control he reveals his (very long) full name: Porky Cornelius Washington Otis Lincoln Abner Aloysius Casper Jefferson Philbert Horatius Narcissus Pig.
What I Like About This One:
Porky being unable to say he wants to learn to fly due to his stutter, so he resorts to imitating a plane.
Porky’s handwriting stuttering!
Porky’s outfit being way too big for him so the recruiting Sargeant shrinks it by dunking him in a barrel of water.
The whole target practice scene.
The plane narrowly avoids bursting a hot air balloon when Porky is given a try to tell it what to do.
The plane obeying all of the commands the kids give the dog.
