A hen hatches a baby ostrich, who does un-chicken like things such as swallowing random objects. A weasel kidnaps the ostrich, but regrets it when the ostrich swallows some firecrackers.

That’s Not All, Folks:

The cartoon was given a Blue Ribbon reissue. The title song was what played over the opening credits. Additionally, a cel of the original title card exists, but due to age, it’s somewhat damaged.

This is the first cartoon to use “Merrily We Roll Along” over the “That’s all folks!” end card.

What I Like About This One:

The ostrich’s first word sounding like a jeer towards the other hens.

The ostrich trying to swallow a fish but has his head in a knothole in the fence while doing so. The hen pulls him out, freeing the fish in the process.

The ostrich not paying attention to where he’s going and falling into the basement. He swallows a jack, which cranks whenever he hiccups.

The ostrich’s “face-off” with a hose.

The weasel singing the title song after kidnapping the ostrich, but replacing the word “money” with “gravy”.

The weasel getting annoyed when the ostrich swallows a lit bulb (he stops his song to pull it out of his mouth).

The instrumental of the title song when the weasel puts the ostrich in the oven.

The ostrich’s habit of swallowing inedible objects being what got him into this mess also being what gets him out (swallowing firecrackers).

The shot of the ostrich regurgitating explosives (normally, regurgitating is disgusting but since it’s explosives, it’s funny).

The hen hugging the ostrich just as his stomach begins a repeat explosion.
