Porky's Prize Pony
Directed by Chuck Jones

Release Date:
June 21, 1941
Main Character(s):
Porky Pig
Summary:
A clumsy horse tries to get jockey Porky Pig to be his owner and must save the day when he accidentally gets Porky’s racehorse drunk.
That’s Not All, Folks:
The horse’s design would later be reused for an important cartoon in Jones’ evolution in making cartoons, “The Draft Horse” (1942), which is his first cartoon to be considered “fast” (though he had several gems in his early era, such as “Daffy Duck and the Dinosaur”, “Old Glory”, “Snowman’s Land”, “Elmer’s Candid Camera”, “Sniffles Takes a Trip”, and later “Conrad the Sailor”).
What I Like About This One:
Porky’s rendition of “We’re in the Money”.
Porky laughing at the horse’s way of trying to get himself sold: holding a “Take Me Home Free” sign in his mouth.
When the horse attempts to prove he’s a “good show horse”, his tail keeps drooping when making a pose.
The horse running face first into a tractor when following Porky.
The horse then falls into the water trough after Porky gets a bucket full of water from said trough.
When attempting to help Porky by carrying his water bucket for him, the horse trips causing the bucket to fall on Porky’s head.
The horse then attempts to prove he’s a “first class steeple chaser” by jumping off into the air and soaring over a hurdle only to crash into a house.
After causing the bucket to land on Porky’s head again, Porky throws the bucket at the horse, who has trouble getting whatever body part gets stuck inside out of the bucket once he gets one body part free.
Now with all four feet stuck in the bucket, the horse is seen hopping along before crashing into Porky’s stable which causes “Horse Liniment 125% Alcohol” to fall into the water bucket of Porky’s racehorse.
The horse then gets his chance to prove his worth when he sees what has happened to Porky’s racehorse and is already running with Porky riding him as the race starts.
The horse first jumps over a hedge but then runs into another as he briefly forms into a locomotive.
The horse knocking into the bar on a hurdle. Only one other participant in the race gets past, before the bar lands on the top of the hurdle, causing all of the other participants to get tripped up.
In the end, Porky wins but the horse is not happy because he has all four feet stuck in the first place cup!
