January 6, 1940

Daffy Duck, Porky Pig

Porky Pig and Daffy Duck own a fast food stand in the middle of nowhere. Daffy discovers that the mice have eaten all their hamburgers so he attempts to turn a calf into one, but he and Porky end up tangling with an angry bull instead.
That’s Not All, Folks:
This is the second and last time Clampett’s alternate design of Daffy from “Wise Quacks” was used.
The note from the mice reads, “Greetings, gate! You’re a wee bit late!” This is a reference to Jerry Colonna.
This is the first cartoon released in the 1940’s.
A menu on the wall reads, “Sheridan Salad- With Plenty of Oomph and No Dressing”. This is a reference to Ann Sheridan.
What I Like About This One:
The sign on the stand: “Our Fried Chicken Has That Real Fowl Taste”.
The female chorus of “Start the Day Right” at the start of the cartoon with Porky flattening pancake batter that stands upright with a fly swatter and Daffy’s absolutely bizarre way of drying dishes- he has a towel on his rump and dries the dishes by wiggling his bottom in rhythm to the chorus before the sequence ends with him going nuts and breaking everything.
When Porky serves a customer coffee, the coffee cup comes out of the coffee machine along with said coffee.
Porky getting eggs from a fridge that leads to a door where a chicken and her nest are. In addition, when Porky cracks the eggs in the frying pan, one of them contains a live chick instead of yolk! While jumping around in pain, the chick stops at one point to say, “Hey, what are you trying to do, give me a hotfoot!?”
Daffy’s rendition of “Plenty of Money and You” while replacing the word “money” with “gravy” when he spots the calf.
Daffy is already angry when the bull is chasing him and pauses his rant to warn the bull, “Don’t get me mad. Now, don’t get me sore!”
Daffy attempting to warn Porky about the bull but Porky thinks Daffy meant a customer was at the back door before realizing that’s definitely not the case.
Porky’s heart beating in the shape of a valentine-shaped heart when he hangs on a limb after avoiding the bull.
Daffy getting the bull to charge into the stand and admist the wreckage, the chickens and chicks are now a merry go round with the bull’s nose ring as the item the chicks have to grab.
