Main Character(s):

Porky Pig

Summary:

Porky Pig is having a birthday party and problems come from a silkworm who makes clothes that gets accidentally swallowed by a penguin eating ice cream and Porky’s dog, Black Fury, who gets drunk upon drinking alcoholic hair grower and gets mistaken for a mad dog when trying to shave himself.

That’s Not All, Folks:

According to storyboards for this cartoon (which can be seen as a bonus feature on the Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume 3 DVD set), Gabby Goat and Petunia Pig were meant to appear in this cartoon before being replaced by Goosey (a crazy goose who behaves like Daffy Duck’s early portrayal) and the ice cream and cake-loving penguin who mistakenly consumes the silkworm.

This is the last cartoon where Chuck Jones is an animator. He animated the scene where Black Fury gets drunk after drinking the hair grower.

What I Like About This One:

The silkworm having a habit of producing female clothes, much to Porky’s embarrassment (animated by Robert Cannon).

Chuck Jones’ animation of Black Fury getting drunk on hair grower.

The penguin saying a quick “Happy birthday, Porky!” before he starts to eat the goodies (animated by Cannon).

The penguin cutting a piece of cake but eats the whole cake and leaves the piece he cut (animated by John Carey).

When Goosey enters, he gives Porky a mechanical hand with a message attached: “Happy birthday, Fat Boy!” (animated by Carey).

When Porky comments on Goosey being “so silly”, the silkworm misinterprets this as his cue to produce more clothes. Seeing a bra coming out of his jacket, Porky tosses him away into the penguin’s ice cream (animated by Norm McCabe).

The penguin’s reaction to seeing a sock in his ice cream as well as him suffering the consequences of his accidental consuming of the silkworm (animated by Carey).

Goosey’s attempts to restore the penguin’s head shape back to normal (animated by Izzy Ellis).

Black Fury’s reaction upon seeing his very hairy self in the mirror (animated by Jones).

Porky doing a double take on realizing a mad dog (actually Black Fury running away from an uncontrollable electric shaver) is clinging to him (animated by McCabe).

When the penguin runs off, he takes the last piece of cake with him (animated by Carey).

The penguin hiding from Black Fury by posing as a hat and coat stand (animated by McCabe).

Porky, Goosey, and the penguin barricading the door and accidentally leaving the penguin out of the closet (animated by Ellis), only for Porky and Goosey to discover Black Fury in the closet with them (animated by Carey).

When Porky finds out that the “mad dog” they were running away from was really Black Fury, the penguin becomes angry and says “So!”, causing the silkworm to start his stuff again (animated by Carey). The last shot shows Goosey trying to help the penguin again (animated by Ellis).
