Directed by Bob Clampett

Release Date:

Main Character(s):

Porky Pig

Summary:

Porky Pig works at a factory that makes rubber tires. His goony dog, Flat Foot Flookey, follows him to work where no dogs are allowed (because the boss, who is a walrus, hates dogs). After Flat Foot Flookey falls into a vat of rubberizing solution, the boss tries to eject him, but to no avail.

That’s Not All, Folks:

The cartoon has a unique “Starring Porky” title card where the “O” in Porky opens up to reveal Porky on a stage and waving to the audience. This title card was only used for this cartoon.

After Flat Foot Flookey falls into the rubberizing solution, he morphs his now-rubbery head to resemble caricatures of Edward G. Robinson, Edna May Oliver, Clark Gable, and Hugh Herbert.

The music that plays over the title card for this cartoon was incorrectly used on several cartoons on the Porky Pig 101 DVD set due to issues with the prints for those cartoons.

What I Like About This One:

Flat Foot Flookey living in an extremely small doghouse (that he wouldn’t be able to fit in in real life).

When Porky notices Flat Foot Flookey entering the tire factory, he ties his tail to a nearby car in order to avoid getting canned (another term for fired).

Porky saying good morning to the walrus boss but the boss grumpily asks, “What’s good about it?”

The boss using a steam shovel that picks up “rubber trees” and chews them like gum before spitting it into a waffle iron that turns the rubber into a tire.

Flat Foot Flookey digging his way into the factory and taking the car he was tied to with him.

When Porky is about to eat a pie in his lunchbox, Flat Foot Flookey startles him, causing the pie to land on Porky’s head.

The animation of Flat Foot Flookey shushing the honking car after it hits Porky (causing him to be untied from it).

Flat Foot Flookey morphing his head into the various stars mentioned above after falling into the rubberizing solution.

After Flat Foot Flookey gets himself stuck in a bottle and a funnel, he easily frees himself from the bottle, but after getting himself out of the funnel, he is propelled backwards into the stairs, so that his body now resembles stairs. The boss unknowingly walks up him and falls down, getting stuck in the stack of tires he was carrying so that he resembles a seal.

The aforementioned catastrophe with the tires causing the boss to notice Flat Foot Flookey.

When the boss rages that he hates dogs, the weiner in Porky’s hot dog runs off and hides behind Porky’s lunchbox.

The boss’ attempts to eject Flat Foot Flookey proving futile, thanks to the latter’s now-rubbery body.

In the end, the boss is propelled into the tire-making waffle iron, causing his torso to resemble a tire.
