The Ideal Format for a Comprehensive Looney Tunes Blu-ray Part 1
Recently, there have been two excellent comprehensive Blu-ray sets of both Peanuts (in honor of its 75th anniversary and also happened to be in the same year as the 60th anniversary of “A Charlie Brown Christmas”) and all of the Tom and Jerry cartoons directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera in honor of the 85th anniversary of the first Tom and Jerry cartoon, “Puss Gets the Boot” (the later Gene Deitch and Chuck Jones cartoons from the 1960’s aren’t on here, but it would be nice if a follow-up set containing all of them could be released, possibly as a “Tom and Jerry: 1960’s Collection”). While there haven’t been any news of a similar Looney Tunes collection, the obvious answer of a perfect comprehensive one would be one that includes literally ALL 1000 of them from 1930 to 1969, fully restored and completely uncut. However, I actually have two ideas of how this could be executed. Today’s is one that contains every cartoon where one of the main 14 (Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Bugs Bunny, Tweety, Sylvester, Pepe Le Pew, Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn, Marvin the Martian, the Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote, Speedy Gonzales, and Taz) appears where it would be called “Looney Tunes: The Complete Collection of All Your Favorite Characters”, and would also provide a booklet detailing who appears in what cartoon (as is the case here). My other idea is one that collects literally EVERYTHING that hasn’t been put on either DVD or Blu-ray properly restored (this will not include what’s going to be put out on the upcoming Collector’s Vault Volume 2) called “That’s all Folks! The Remaining Golden Era Looney Tunes from the Vaults”. Anyways, without further ado, this is how I’d program the “Looney Tunes: The Complete Collection of All Your Favorite Characters” (one of two parts due to the 102 kb limit):
