All Current Evidence of Original Titles for Cartoons with Credit-less Reissues

The infamous Blue Ribbon card that is a source of frustration to many fans and historians (myself included)

List of Cartoons That Received These Reissues:

(the music under the opening credits for reissued cartoons that Carl Stalling scored are known thanks to Devon Baxter’s September 2024 Cartoon Research post that was originally a free Patreon post in April 2023. I’m also providing links to some of the songs themselves if I particularly liked the recording I listened to)

  1. Country Mouse (1935)- original title cue is presumably an instrumental of the song sung in the beginning.

  2. The Merry Old Soul (1935)- original titles found on 16mm print in late 2000’s.

  4. Little Dutch Plate (1935)- original end card found in 2014 with cel of original title card found in 2025. Original title cue is presumably the title song.

Fifth Column Mouse (1943)- Photo of original title card found in 2004, while a line from the mice’s variant sing-along of “Ain’t We Got Fun” that was deleted from the reissue (“Down with the Axis, we’re all glad to pay our taxes”) was found in 2020. Originally title cue is “Three Blind Mice”.

  97. Flop Goes the Weasel (1943)- Original title and credit cels found in June 2021. The song over the opening credits (“Mammy’s Little Coal Black Rose”) is briefly heard in the reissue and continues into the start of the cartoon.

  98. The Unbearable Bear (1943)- Original title and credit cels found in June 2021. Original title cue is “Big Fat Mama”.

  99. Greetings Bait (1943)- Original title cue is “Keep Cool, Fool” (side note: this was also the first Warner cartoon to utilize Raymond Scott music- in this case, “Dinner Music for a Pack of Hungry Cannibals”).

  100. The Aristo-Cat (1943)- Original title cue is “For You”.

  101. Hiss and Make Up (1943)- Original title and credit cels found in June 2021. Original title cue is “It Can’t Be Wrong”.
